UUNGUU

Natural Story

This lookout looks north over Brremangurey country to Dorre (meeting of salt and fresh water, Lawley River estuary). It is home to Jebarra (emu) and Walamba (antilopine kangaroo).

Cultural Story

This Marnga (laterite gravel) country has two culturally important forest tree resources: 1) Dangana (endemic livistona palm) for food and 2) Yalmin (stringybark) for utensils, art (‘canvas’ and didgeridoo) and shelter. Rich in resources with its rainforest, rivers and mangroves, Dorre and the surrounding rivers and escarpments are important living, hunting and ceremonial areas.
