Our Operations

UUNGUU

Wunambal Gaambera people have passed responsibility to look after our country and our culture  to WGAC’s  Healthy Country Team, who implement the Wunambal Gaambera Healthy Country Plan.

Our Uunguu Rangers are the front-line of our Healthy Country Team who implement our Healthy Country Operations including; right way fire, feral animal and weed pest control, visitor management, cultural site management and monitoring health of graa (land) and wundaagu (saltwater) plants, animals and habitats. We are working to make sure our languages and cultural knowledge are kept alive and our people are living and working on Wunambal Gaambera country.

Our Wanjina Wunggurr Law gives us rules and responsibilities to look after and keep Wunambal Gaambera Country, all things in it and our culture healthy. Today we use our traditional knowledge and other ways of looking after our country and still make sure we follow our Law.

We Wunambal Gaambera people have made our Healthy Country Plan to help us look after and keep our Country and culture healthy, and build the capacity and wealth of our families to live on and secure futures from our Country.

While the Plan is for ten years to 2020, it is the starting point for our future beyond ten years. In making the Plan, our Elders and young people sat together and came up with our Uunguu Vision to be our goals to reach in ten years time and beyond.

During 2021 we will be looking at the overall vision and targets for next ten years, 2021-30 of our Healthy Country Plan. We can see an important focus for our Healthy Country operations will be  to assist  Wunambal Gaambera people build capacity to secure sustainable livelihoods on and from our Country.
